Position Overview
H. Stephen Jones & Associates, Inc. (HSJ) is seeking a Low-Voltage Systems Designer to join our team of low-voltage and door hardware experts. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and documentation of low-voltage systems on large complex institutional projects. This includes telecommunications, electronic security (ex: surveillance, duress, access control, intrusion), audio/visual, and building automation systems. Our low-voltage systems designers collaborate with cross-functional teams and take projects from concept through construction, ensuring systems are reliable, cost-effective, scalable, and compliant with all applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop low-voltage system plans, risers, and details using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or BIM software
- Prepare project specifications and technical reports
- Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans to coordinate low-voltage system integration
- Perform load calculations, device layout, and routing for cabling infrastructure
- Coordinate low-voltage designs with other engineering disciplines, architects, and consultants
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide support during construction administration.
- Conduct site surveys and field investigations
- Monitor and stay informed on current with technology trends and industry standards such as BICSI
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5 years of experience designing low-voltage systems using 3D modeling tools
- Proficiency in Revit
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, BICSI, and TIA/EIA.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- RCDD or CTS certification.
- Experience with construction administration or commissioning.
- Knowledge of project management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, eBuilder
