Logistics and Inventory Manager

About the Role

The Logistics and Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, packaging, and finished food products. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, timely deliveries, and compliance with food safety regulations, while also managing supplier and carrier relationships to control costs and improve efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, monitor stock levels, and implement inventory control systems to prevent shortages, overstocking, and spoilage.
  • Oversee storage practices, ensure proper handling of raw materials and finished goods, and manage warehouse space efficiently.
  • Plan and manage inbound and outbound shipments, select carriers, negotiate shipping rates, and ensure timely and accurate deliveries to customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs), ensuring cost-effective and reliable supply chain operations.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and industry regulations, including proper storage, handling, and transportation of food products.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in logistics and inventory management, analyze expenses, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Analyze logistics and inventory data, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare reports to improve decision-making.
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and procurement teams to align inventory levels with business needs and customer demand.
  • Implement and manage inventory tracking software and ERP systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • Supervise and train warehouse and logistics staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and company policies.
  • Continuously assess and refine inventory and logistics operations to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in logistics, supply chain, or inventory management within the food production or CPG industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management software and ERP systems and familiarity with FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP compliance requirements.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvement, coordinating across departments and working effectively with suppliers, carriers, and team members.
  • Ensuring accuracy in inventory records, shipments, and compliance documentation.
  • Experience managing warehouse/logistics staff and fostering a team-oriented, fast-paced environment and have the ability to adjust to changing business needs.
