About The Position Wellhart is seeking a Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position in Maine. This 60-day assignment begins on June 16, 2025 (or July at the latest) at a multi-specialty clinic. The physician will work Monday through Friday, 8-hour days. Responsibilities include performing various gastrointestinal procedures such as lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, and banding of varices. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, with a preference for those who can perform advanced procedures. Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy procedures
- Conduct upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, and banding of varices
- Carry out diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterological procedures
- Manage pre- and post-procedure patient care
- Provide comprehensive gastroenterological consultations and follow-ups
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Ensure proper documentation using Epic electronic medical record system
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
