Locum Physician

A hospital is seeking a family physician for locum tenens coverage. The facility is located about 1.5 hours from Des Moines, IA. This 3-month assignment, with potential to extend to 6 months, is for an MD only and includes both clinic and hospital responsibilities. The schedule is 4 clinic days per week, with hospital rounding from 79am, clinic hours from 9am12pm and 15pm, and providers remaining on call throughout the day. Call is required on a 1:3 rotation and may include being called back to the hospital. Clinic volume averages 15 patients per day, with 36 hospital patients, including newborns, so comfort with nursery rounding is essential. Candidates must hold an Iowa license, DEA, and be board certified in Family Medicine and preferably OB as well. Circumcision competency is mandatory, and the ability to perform deliveries and C-sections is highly preferred. The site uses Meditech Expanse and is supported by 2 FM MDs, 1 OBGYN, 3 FM APPs, and a walk-in clinic staffed by APPs.
