We are seeking a skilled Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner for an 84-day locum tenens position at a hospital in Wisconsin. The assignment begins on 06/02/2025, with a 7-on/7-off schedule of 12-hour in-house shifts. The NP will be responsible for managing both acute care surgery (50%) and trauma cases (50%), performing various procedures including chest tubes, bronchoscopies, central and arterial lines, as well as assisting in surgeries. The position utilizes the Epic EMR system and also offers the possibility of assignment extension.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:


• Manage acute care surgery and trauma cases (50/50 split)


• Perform procedures including chest tube insertions, bronchoscopies, central and arterial line placements


• Assist in various surgical procedures such as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and hernioplasties


• Participate in breast and peripheral vascular surgeries


• Provide independent coverage on the trauma/ACS service


• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation


• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed


• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records


• Adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards


• Stay updated on the latest advancements in trauma and acute care surgery


• Demonstrate strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations


Additional Information:


• Wisconsin state Nurse Practitioner license required


• Strong experience in trauma and acute care surgery essential


• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system preferred


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment


• Comfort with working independently without attending physician supervision
