Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine medical laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Working under the supervision of a medical technologist, the technician will handle laboratory equipment, conduct analyses, and document test results with accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, calibrate, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment.
- Conduct tests and experiments, analyzing results for accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Record and report data using charts, graphs, and written narratives.
- Obtain and process biological specimens; cultivate, isolate, and identify microorganisms for analysis.
- Examine stained cells under a microscope to detect abnormalities.
- Collaborate with pathologists to confirm diagnoses when abnormal cells are found.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and effective problem-solving ability.
- Basic ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Understanding of medical procedures, laboratory techniques, and diagnostic practices.
- Ability to analyze test data and document results accurately.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- CORE LAB
- GENERALIST COAG, HEM, UA, ETC EXPERIENCE
- ASCP OR AMT CERTIFICATION
- BSMT, MLS, CLS or BS in Bio or chem with 1 year of relevant experience. OR 2 yr associates degree in medical technology MLT with 3-5 years experience
