Law firm in Century City is seeking a Litigation Secretary to assist 5-6 Litigators with Commercial and Intellectual Property litigation matters. This person must be an expert in State and Federal Court filings and procedure, including formatting and proofreading pleadings, creating TOC/TOA's, calendaring, and trial preparation.
Duties:
- Review and format legal pleadings, motions, statements, memoranda, trial briefs and other legal documents on assigned cases
- Prepare case files, jury trials, hearings and post-trial dispositions
- Create Table of Contents and Table of Authorities from scratch
- File and eFile in State and Federal Courts without an vendor service
- Review and summarize trial and post-trial transcripts, prepare and organize trial exhibits for testimony and depositions
- Handle all court calls for the assigned cases, including all status hearings, case management hearings, pre-trial conferences and trials
- Provide trial support on active litigation matters and assist in the support of client case teams at trials, mediations, arbitrations or any other manner of dispute resolution
- Organize all aspects and phases of the file, including investigation, discovery, pleadings, evaluation, hearings, motions and trial; organize, label, and track trial exhibits, documents, and evidence
- Answer phones for attorneys, direct incoming phone calls and greet clients and guests
- Calendar dates and deadlines for cases and attorney schedule
Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience directly supporting 4+ Attorneys in a law firm setting
- Knowledge and understanding of CCP and Federal Court rules
- Previous experience handling heavy, complex commercial litigation cases, ideally at the Federal Level or within the Intellectual Property litigation practice.
- Must have previous experience with iManage
- Ability to work in the office 4 days a week
