Litigation Paralegal Job Description
The Litigation Paralegal provides essential support for litigation cases managed by attorneys. This role involves document handling, file creation and management, database oversight, and trial preparation. Responsibilities include organizing materials, managing schedules for lawyers and clients, and ensuring smooth day-to-day case progression. The Litigation Paralegal works closely under the supervision of attorneys.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or an Associate of Arts degree with at least one year of in-house training as a Paralegal Assistant or Paralegal Intern, or 1-5 years of law-related experience under an attorney's supervision.
- Completion of an ABA-approved Paralegal program is preferred.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years in litigation, with experience in federal, state, and administrative cases.
- Familiarity with Relativity for advanced searching and data analytics.
- Law firm experience is a plus.
Essential Functions
- Manage cases from inception to close, ensuring all documents and case details are well-organized.
- Prepare discovery documents and track document productions.
- Organize exhibits for filings, hearings, and trials.
- Monitor court deadlines, assist in motion practice, and attend depositions or trials.
- Communicate with internal teams, clients, and external vendors in a professional manner.
- Meet annual 1550 billable hour targets.
- General administrative duties including time entry and assisting with marketing efforts.
