The role of Litigation Paralegal is a vital position at Long Hagan Huff-Harris and will be a critical position for many clients; therefore, strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential qualities to be successful in this role. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with superior attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work independently and as part of a team, an ability to multitask and manage various deadlines, a strong work ethic, and the focus to see tasks through to completion in a fast-paced environment, amid frequent interruptions.
Under the supervision of attorneys, and according to established policies and procedures, the Paralegal performs a variety of duties including obtaining client intake forms, maintaining client files, preparing and filing court pleadings, communicating directly with clients, other attorneys, and the Court Registry, preparing legal documents, interacting with court clerks, attending meetings with client families, and assisting clients in gathering information.
Additionally, the Paralegal must maintain positive contact with clients, attorneys, and staff and observe confidentiality of client matters. The Paralegal must also be comfortable going to court to file petitions and pleadings, interacting with Registry of Probate clerks and courtroom staff, responding to emergencies, assisting with discovery and reviewing discovery documents, preparing client financial statements, and helping attorneys prepare for Court hearings and trials. The position will also be responsible for tracking and entering their billable time daily, managing the department calendar and scheduling, internal data collection, and various other administrative tasks as assigned.

- Experienced - Two to three years of experience as a paralegal is preferred, previous litigation experience is a must-have. Comfortability with basic math is also preferred.
Responsibilities:
- File and e-file legal documents.
- Help attorneys prepare for court hearings and trials.
- Assist with discovery and reviewing discovery documents.
- Communicate with clients over the phone, as well as through physical and digital correspondence, to obtain information or provide updates.
- Compose and send correspondence to opposing counsels, beneficiaries, interested parties, Registries of Deeds, and Secretary of State's Office.
- Manage and organize department calendars.
- Schedule meetings with clients, opposing counsel, and team members.
- Obtain and organize financial information and client records.
- Transcribe communications with clients and other parties as needed.
- Meticulously manage, organize, and scan important documents using firm software.
- Scan, organize, and upload documents to the firm's client portal.
- Prepare documents for mailing and work cross-functionally with departments to ensure their timely delivery.
- Assist other department paralegals and attorneys with tasks, as needed.
