LHH is looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant for a law firm in Wyandotte, MI and this is a hybrid Full time direct hire role. We're seeking a Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant to support a dynamic team of attorneys handling complex litigation matters throughout Michigan. In this role, you will be at the heart of the legal process-supporting cases from start to finish with a sharp eye for detail, impeccable organization, and a firm grasp of Michigan's court systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Case & Matter Management
- Organize and maintain case files-digitally and physically
- Track litigation deadlines, court appearances, discovery schedules, and filings
- Monitor case progress and relay updates to attorneys and clients
Document Preparation & Filing
- Draft, revise, and e-file legal documents: pleadings, motions, discovery responses
- Prepare trial materials, exhibits, deposition summaries, and witness lists
- Ensure all filings meet Michigan state and federal court rules
Calendaring & Scheduling
- Manage attorney calendars and litigation deadlines
- Schedule depositions with clients, experts, and opposing counsel
- Coordinate meetings, court appearances, and witness logistics
Client & Court Communication
- Draft and send correspondence on behalf of attorneys
- Update clients regarding case progress and document needs
- Interact with courts regarding filings, hearings, and orders
Billing & Administrative Support
- Assist with tracking and inputting billable hours for attorney timekeeping
- Review billing entries for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain organized case files and perform various clerical duties
Compliance & Confidentiality
- Handle sensitive legal documents with discretion
- Ensure adherence to legal ethics, firm policy, and client confidentiality requirements
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years of legal assistant or paralegal experience in commercial litigation
- Solid knowledge of Michigan court rules and e-filing procedures
- Proficient with litigation support software and tools (eg, LexisNexis, Westlaw)
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to multitask
- Professionalism under pressure and a client-focused attitude
Salary $55, 000 - $65,000 plus benefits
