Summary:
Our client, a 21-attorney law firm headquartered in Chicago is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. The Litigation Legal Assistant will play a critical role in enhancing attorney effectiveness through comprehensive information-management support. Acting as a liaison to clients and other stakeholders, this position ensures seamless communication and case preparation while maintaining the firm's confidentiality standards and professional reputation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transcribe, format, input, edit, retrieve, copy, and transmit text, data, and graphics to support case preparation.
- Coordinate trial preparation tasks, such as preparing charts, graphs, and courtroom visuals.
- Manage incoming and outgoing legal documents, reports, and correspondence by researching, reviewing, and routing information.
- Draft letters, briefs, and supporting documentation as needed.
- Organize client conferences, attorney meetings, and telecommunication activities.
- Maintain attorneys' calendars by planning and scheduling conferences, dispositions, court appearances, and travel itineraries.
- Monitor filing requirements, pleading deadlines, evidence collection, and litigation preparation needs.
- Represent attorneys by communicating key information, following up on delegated assignments, and escalating matters when necessary.
- Assist in generating revenue through accurate documentation of billable attorney time and reimbursable expenses.
- Prepare invoices and track client payments.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and attorney information in accordance with professional standards.
- Develop and manage filing systems, meeting transcripts, and evidence maintenance processes.
- Explore opportunities to enhance departmental efficiency and contribute to the firm's reputation by taking initiative on new requests and adding value to internal processes.
