Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate for Public Agency Clients in California. An immediate opportunity is available for an associate with 2-4 years of litigation experience to join a firm representing public agencies such as cities, counties, transit agencies, and public pension plans. This role involves working on a wide range of cutting-edge disputes in environmental law, water law, public records, construction, real estate, and more.
Key Responsibilities: - Represent public agencies in litigation actions (both as defendants and plaintiffs).
- Handle matters related to environmental rules, water law, construction, breach of contract, and constitutional issues.
- Draft and respond to discovery, pleadings, briefs, and motions in state and federal court.
- Manage multiple cases efficiently and take ownership of significant projects.
Qualifications: - 2-4 years of litigation experience, with a focus on public agency or similar issues preferred.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience with eDiscovery and depositions is preferred.
- Admission to the California Bar is required.
Location & Compensation: - This position is available in San Francisco or Los Angeles
- Salary range: $175,000 - $195,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
- Associates are eligible for various annual bonuses, including a 15% bonus of base compensation for meeting 1,850 annual billable hours (up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work included).
