Segra is searching for a dynamic and experienced Linux Virtualization Engineer I.

Role Overview:

The Infrastructure Engineer I is an entry-level technical role within the Information Technology department, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and expansion of Segra's business-critical IT infrastructure. This role supports the administration of corporate data centers, servers, and storage systems, ensuring their availability, performance, and security. While specific responsibilities may vary, the Infrastructure Engineer I is expected to have foundational expertise in system administration, security, and access control. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of Segra's IT infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Linux (preferably Red Hat) systems administration.
  • Must have knowledge of VMware or other virtualization technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree (AA), 1-2 years' experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience using server and storage systems including but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Linux, VMware, Pure Storage, Rubrik, or other similar systems.
  • Experience with configuring and working with monitoring systems a plus, preferably VMware Aria Operations or Nagios XI.
  • Computer Skills - Experience with personal computers, networking, hardware, software, firewalls/DMZ, active directory, backups/disaster recovery/contingency planning, server consolidation, virtualization, high availability, and load balancing
  • Windows server/storage environment administration of workstations, servers, Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, Quest Kace, Antivirus Security, Group Policy Management
  • Virtualization technologies - VMWare host and guest configuration
  • Understanding of networking including VLAN and VXLAN technologies helpful
  • Understanding of firewall technologies helpful
  • Storage Systems (SAN and NAS) appliances
  • Self-motivated and driven to improve professional and technical knowledge while recommending best practices and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices in meeting corporate business requirements
  • Experience in the implementation of standards, procedures, and guidelines to support operational processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy
  • Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
  • Certifications preferred but not required. CompTIA Server+, Network+ or Security+, Microsoft MCSA or higher certification; VMWare VCP certification or other related certifications
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties
  • Must be willing and able to travel to data centers as needed for job responsibilities
