This position is in support of a contract with the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Agency OCIO. The NNSA has multiple offices and facilities across the United States, with its headquarters in Washington D.C. These offices and facilities are responsible for various aspects of nuclear security, including stockpile management, nonproliferation, and nuclear security. The Linux Engineer will design, implement, and optimize Linux systems, provide Tier 2 support for complex technical issues. Manage both physical and virtual Linux servers, focusing on performance, security, and scalability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and drive continuous improvements in processes and system efficiency. Applications for this job will be accepted for at least 30 days from the posting date Responsibilities of the Linux Engineer: Linux Engineer to work in Washington, DC. The candidate must have an active Top Secret clearance. The ideal candidate will: 5+ years of experience or demonstrated expertise in Linux Engineering Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, account management, and patching of Linux/UNIX systems, ensuring systems meet organizational needs and remain up-to-date. Develop and support RHEL 9.x shell scripting for various networking and server-based tasks, utilizing Bash, Python, or other automation languages. Support Ansible deployment on RHEL 9.x or greater, including playbook creation, testing, and optimization to ensure automated system configuration and management. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by filling knowledge gaps in Linux distributions outside of RHEL (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu) Manage and support Splunk deployments on RHEL 9.x, ensuring integration with other systems and smooth performance monitoring for enterprise-wide deployments. Qualifications of the Linux Engineer: Candidate must have an active Top Secret or Q security clearance. Experience with RHEL 9.x
Scripting with Bash, Python, or Shell
Experience with tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
Compensation of the Linux Engineer: Total compensation based on experience up to $160,000 - Direct-Hire
