Position Summary

The Linux Engineer is responsible to act as Linux engineering subject matter expert on projects and business support requests of all sizes, from initiation through successful completion. You should be able to provide multiple solution approaches and be able to perform the engineering and drive the development required to implement any selected option. In alignment with Store Systems Management, problem resolution and collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. In addition, the Linux Engineer provides Store Systems Management with regular status updates, continuous process improvement, and completion of customer satisfaction initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience with Linux administration/configuration and scripting
  • 0 to 2 years troubleshooting Linux systems in a production environment
  • 0 to 2 years of experience with Configure/Install/Admin - RHEL and Debian based (Ubuntu) systems
Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Hardware management - firmware, OOB (iLO), storage configuration (LVM)
  • Experience with Linux Benchmarking, Performance Testing
  • Experience with SystemD and Linux services (NTP, DNS, Squid, NFS, iptables)
  • Experience with Linux middleware services Apache, MySQL
  • Experience with Filesystem setup and management
  • Experience with KVM Hypervisor virtualization
  • Experience with Bash/Python scripting - preferably intermediate
  • System Security i.e. MSB, security scanning tools (e.g. Qualys), firewall, PKI
  • CI/CD - Jenkins pipeline, GIT
  • Ansible
  • Linux Monitoring, alerting
  • Linux Benchmarking, Performance Testing
  • Server Capacity Planning
  • Experience implementing HA environments, clustering SuSE Rancher / K3S
  • Experience with other Hypervisor hardware/software (Nutanix, Vmware Esxi)
  • Experience in Hybrid Cloud Platforms i.e OpenShift, OpenStack

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$46,988.00 - $112,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
