Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Linux Administrator to support the Office of Administration / Enterprise Technology Services Office (OA/ETSO). This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to reside within one hour of Harrisburg, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing Linux server environments, supporting containerized workloads, automating system tasks, and contributing to a highly available and secure infrastructure.
Location: Hybrid - Harrisburg, PA (At least 1 day onsite per week)
Key Responsibilities: 1. Server Administration: - Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Linux servers.
- Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security updates using Red Hat Satellite.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues to ensure uptime and performance.
- Create and manage golden system images.
- Perform OS installations using Satellite or physical media (CD).
- Deploy and administer container environments.
- Automate system tasks using Ansible.
- Support container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
2. User Account Management: - Configure user accounts, SUDO access, and group permissions.
- Enforce security policies to safeguard sensitive data.
3. System Security: - Configure and maintain SELinux.
- Integrate FireEye for system protection.
4. Networking: - Configure network bonding and EtherChannels.
- Collaborate with the networking team to resolve connectivity and configuration issues.
5. Backup and Monitoring: - Coordinate with backup teams to ensure proper OS backup procedures.
- Assist monitoring teams in configuring OS-level alerting and diagnostics.
6. Containerization: - Manage containerized environments and support application migrations to Linux containers.
7. Documentation & Ticketing: - Maintain clear, accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and ticket resolutions.
- Record solutions and actions taken within ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
Required Skills: - Strong experience with Red Hat Linux administration
- Shell scripting expertise
- Proven ability to write and manage Ansible playbooks
- Hands-on experience with VMware environments
- Working knowledge of:
- ServiceNow ticketing system
- Git Server for version control
- Cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
