We have a Direct Hire role for a Line Cook in the Portage Lakes for a locally owned and operated Craft Beer & Bourbon Bar and Restaurant. We are looking to add to the culinary team and are currently hiring all levels of Back of House experience. This is a great opportunity for BOH professionals to grow and take on new challenges and enjoy cooking, grilling and food preparation in general.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking method, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- Maintains a clean & sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, pasta cookers, sauté burners, oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Handle, store and rotate all products properly
- Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen station
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty
Requirements:- Must be Wednesday - Sunday (Closed on Mondays)
- Sundays are required.
- Must complete a working interview to be hired
- Must be able to pass a background check to be hired
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
- Willing to work late nights, early mornings and weekends
- Serv-Safe a plus but will provide the education and license if needed.
Education:- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:- Restaurant experience: 2 years (Required)Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week
