About the Company

We are a Traumatic Brain Injury Center with offices in Elmhurst, Brooklyn Heights, and Manhattan. We are offering a full-time position in Brooklyn Heights with an extremely attractive salary and benefits package that includes Medical Insurance, 401K savings plan with matching contributions, paid time off, vacation, holidays, working from Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, to a New York State licensed PhD/PsyD Psychologist in our multidisciplinary traumatic brain injury (TBI) practice. Fully Bilingual (Spanish - English) is desired but not required. Our clinic serves TBI survivors amid an ethnically and linguistically diverse, multi-cultural population of principally essential workers. (please see our website for more detailed information ).


About the Role

In addition to TBI, we have a substantial population of patients with post-COVID-19 (neuro)psychological disorders. For the past fifteen years, we have been routinely training psychologists and interns in techniques of behavioral neurology, cognitive assessment, and neuropsychology. We have multiple board-certified neuropsychologists, who work with our psychologists in order to impart knowledge of cognitive evaluations using various assessment tools, including the classic paper and pencil methods (e.g., WAIS, the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status RBANS) as well as computerized applications such as NeuroTrax , the Integrated Visual and Auditory Attention Test Version 2 (IVA-2), MeSA-AE Mental System Assessment-Advanced Edition, etc.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct scientific studies of behavior and brain function
  • Observe, interview, and survey individuals
  • Identify psychological, emotional, behavioral, or organizational issues and diagnose disorders
  • Research and identify behavioral or emotional patterns
  • Test for patterns that will help them better understand and predict behavior
  • Discuss the treatment of problems with clients

As a psychologists you will also acquire the expertise to provide cognitive remediation therapy using an EEG biofeedback technique and other computer-based programs to treat Post-Concussion-Syndrome (PCS). There is also an opportunity to participate in our research projects on TBI as well as post-COVID-19 neuro-cognitive impairment. Finally as a licensed psychologist you will actively supervise an ABCN approved post-doctoral internship. Bilingual candidates highly encouraged to apply.


Qualifications

New York License in Psychology - PhD or Psy.D required (Psychology candidates should possess a PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA/PCSAS-accredited graduate program and be licensed or license-eligible in New York State)


Required Skills

  • A strong ability to work in research and clinical contexts
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain focused on the task at hand
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working on a research team conducting drug trials may be advantageous
  • Computer literacy required, including word processing
  • Demonstrated competence in crisis intervention, assessing need for psychiatric hospitalization, handling psychiatric emergencies, and supervising referrals for inpatient care
  • Demonstrated excellence in diagnosis, including mastery of diagnostic nomenclature, and in understanding best practices in diagnostic evaluations
  • Demonstrated excellence in multicultural competency
  • Experience and interest in teaching and supervision of trainees
