A medical services company in New York is looking to add a new Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to their team in the Buffalo.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: Ongoing (Contract to Hire possibility)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (alternating Saturdays)
- Hours: 1pm to 9pm (1-hr unpaid lunches)
Responsibilities:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for assisting with providing and implementing medical care and services for women with a history of chemical dependence, including:
- Follow accepted nursing standards for direct care, procedures, and equipment use.
- Document nursing assessments, care plans, and follow-up recommendations in the client's record.
- Perform daily tasks related to methadone dispensing, administration, and observation, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Assess clients at intake and ongoing, communicating new medical needs to the primary counselor/medical director.
- Coordinate client services with interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide routine and crisis nursing care, maintaining accurate documentation of all activities.
- Participate in evaluating nursing standards and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
- Review client medical history during initial evaluation and 90-day reassessment.
- Maintain infection control standards with the Medical Director.
- Educate staff on HIV/AIDS prevention and risk reduction.
- Follow policies for medication and treatment administration.
- Assist with blood work for admissions and annual exams, including HIV testing and PPD placement.
- Provide educational health materials at admission and as needed.
- Document pertinent client information per policy.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing program
- NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York State
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NYS-approved Infection Control certification
- Knowledge of Substance / Alcohol Dependence/ Abuse population
- Experience in one of the following specialty areas, including Family Health, Women's Health, Holistic Care, etc.
- Training in Chemical Use, Abuse, and Dependence specific to the services provided
Desired Skills:
