POSITION SUMMARY:
In conjunction with the RN/Unit Director, the Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met. He/she assists in the orientation of and supervision of nursing personnel, attends to the daily operations of the unit per shift, unit level, and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1 Takes an active role in direct resident assessment and care;
2 Administers medication and/or treatment and documentation of same to residents;
3 Responsible for clinical documentation related to resident activity;
4 Assists in developing and implementing resident care plan and nursing care plan;
5 Counts and records class drugs when beginning and ending shift;
6 Communicates pertinent data to charge nurse, superior and/or physician;
7 Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of residents;
8 Assists physician in rounds and examination of residents, as needed;
9 Supervises and coordinates nursing personnel in providing direct resident care in adherence with state and federal regulations;
10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights;
11 Performs other duties as requested.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1 The Licensed Practical Nurse must be a graduate of an approved school for practical or vocational nursing and must be currently licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
2 Experience is preferred in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing.
