Position Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse - PNS (LPN) is responsible for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in a patient care area. The LPN is responsible for providing exemplary customer service and consistently practicing CMC's core values of excellence, compassion, healing, teamwork, stewardship, innovation, and integrity.

Qualifications:

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse program required.

Experience
  • Previous outpatient care experience preferred.
  • Previous Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as LPN (SCLLR) in good standing required. Compact state license must be in accordance with the compact state regulations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
  • Reinforces and documents direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Nursing care is guided by the physician orders and the nursing plan of care.
  • Patient response to care is reported to a registered nurse for evaluation, intervention, and modification of the plan of care.
  • Assists physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance of various diagnostic procedures.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with coworkers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
  • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
  • Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgment.
  • The LPN performs functions as noted above and generally with an assigned patient load, but LPN is ready and willing to assist co-workers with any nursing support function and across any case load including other units that may not be the normal primary work assignment.

Working Conditions:
  • Occasional exposure to difficult patients.
  • Stress level high due to multiple demands frequently occurring simultaneously.
  • Radiation and biohazardous/infectious materials risk prevalent.
  • Prolonged standing and walking required.
