Description Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Department: Clinical Areas Reports To: Department Manager FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Job Summary: Assists the provider with patient care. Carries out routine clinical duties under the supervisor of the provider. The LPN is responsible for the delivery of care which is performed in a professional, caring, and courteous manner. Responsible for making safety-driven decisions while providing patient care. Participates in department-wide team initiatives. Fulfills the job requirements for a professional licensed role within the respective department. Assists provider with requests to ensure expedited and efficient care delivery. Manages patient flow. Assists the secretary with appropriate scheduling of patients. Completes follow-up phone calls. Maintains a friendly and caring environment for patients. Delivery of High-Quality Clinical Outcomes Applies healthcare practices as deemed competent by nursing educators and under the direction of a provider. Interprets, supports, and implements policies and procedures. Acts as a team player and works collaboratively within the team and organization. Assists with developing priorities, goals, and action plans. Responds to requests from Department Manager. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assist with the evaluation of programs and services. Participates in department and/or system-wide team dynamic initiatives. Accurately records observations. Liaison for provider and patient/family Able to identify patient care problems and suggest solutions to enhance patient outcomes. Able to answer patient questions as appropriate when Provider is not present Accurately obtain and document vital signs. Licenses and/or Certifications CPR Required Physical Demands Ability to move or transfer patients with an individual effort equal to 50 lbs. Should have a full range of body motion to successfully perform all essential functions of the job, meaning you'll have to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently during a 12-hour shift. Language Ability Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific/trade/technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or regulatory/agencies. Ability to effectively present information to employees, top management, public groups, and/or board of directors Math Ability Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, rates, and ratios. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Working Conditions Potential exposure to bio-hazardous materials, toxic chemicals, and communicable disease. Handles emergency or crisis situations, may perform emergency care. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours, contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
