This pharmacy technician position will be working in the Pharmacy Services Department in an assistant role with the title of Pharmacy Services Assistant reporting directly to the Pharmacy Services Manager. The Pharmacy Services Assistant's main responsibility is to generate profitability by supporting our pharmacy teammates dispensing and billing practices, creating necessary policy and procedures, communicating industry updates, trouble-shooting challenges and providing customer service support through Pharmacy Services communication channels.

The Pharmacy Services Assistant acts as a role model of professionalism, continually strives to make improvements to themselves and the Company as well as commits to performing quality work using effective decision making at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works as a collaborative team member to meet the service goals of the Company

Creates a positive environment when responding to all telephone, email, messaging systems (chats) and direct inquiries as well as providing quick and efficient service

Provides quality service and knowledge expertise through HomeTown's Pharmacy Services helpdesk

Routinely updates files in the pharmacy management systems (RX30, QS1, etc.) to ensure data is accurate, productivity is maximized and financial opportunities are optimized.

Calls pharmacies, patients, insurance companies and provider offices when needed to obtain additional information or clarifications related to dispensing prescriptions, insurance details, audits, etc.

Accurately enters patient information into the pharmacy database to assist with proper billing

Tracks and organizes compliance documentation for all pharmacy locations

Maintains a safe workplace environment by adhering to health code guidelines and corporate standards.

Utilizes and expands their understanding of insurance companies, billing practices, eligibility checks, secondary pay sources, prior authorizations, Durable Medical Equipment billing to benefit the pharmacies and Company.

Corrects submissions to Immunization Information Systems, as needed

Processes and tracks returns, when requested

Educates teammates on relevant topics and practice updates

Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance initiatives

Prepares and reviews opportunity reports for improvement across the network

Maintaining accuracy of corporate accounts, reconciling charges and performing account receivable functions.

Minimum Requirements:

Licensed Pharmacy Technician

Minimum of 2 years pharmacy experience with an understanding of pharmacy workflow, insurance coverage and billing practices
