The Licensed Infusion Pharmacy Technician shall assist in coordination of daily activities in the Pharmacy Department under the supervision of a registered pharmacist consistent with state and federal regulations. Performs functions to support pharmacy staff with related medication preparation or client delivery process. Maintains a clean and orderly pharmacy working area appropriate to guidelines. This position reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager.
The job expectations are as follows:
Will work under direct supervision of licensed pharmacist performing duties considered acceptable by that respective State Board of Pharmacy.
Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, prepares the prescription for filling. Gathers necessary medications and solutions, prepares the prescription and products for the pharmacist to check under the direct pharmacist supervision, as allowed by the respective State Board of Pharmacy.
Maintains compounding records, prescription logs and quality control notebooks as determined by the pharmacy director of pharmacy, and by Advanced Care policies.
Performs quality control procedures including daily temperature checks of refrigerator and freezer.
Assists in cleaning and maintenance of all pharmacy-related equipment.
Assures inventory stock of prescription or non-prescription items are maintained correctly and at appropriate levels as requested.
Assures that inventory medications and supplies are checked for expiration dating on a continuous basis and follows up with pharmacist appropriately.
Tracks, logs and disposes of biomedical waste within guidelines when requested.
Confirm delivery tickets per procedure.
Performs other relative tasks as determined by the pharmacy manager.
Fill and coordinates deliveries for oral and enteral tube feeders.
Opens, closes enteral charts, and renews orders per regulatory guidelines.
Checks drivers' delivery sheets to ensure all paper work has been completed correctly and turned in. Prepare weekly report for VP of Human Resources per detailing specific stats.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Graduate or equivalent
1-year retail or hospital pharmacy experience
Current license as a pharmacy technician
Proficient in computer knowledge
Communicates effectively with a diverse group of patients (to include telephone skills)
Meets technical employment requirements of the respective state
Has ability to assemble and maintain records, and to present data as requested by the
Registered pharmacist
Has the ability to work in a team environment, utilizing interpersonal skills with other in the work setting
Has the ability to follow through on tasks and plan daily or weekly activities
Good communication skills, integrity, initiative and creativity
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
Light lifting - up to 25 lbs. maximum
Reaching & handling - extending hands and arms, working with hands.
Verbal communication - expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken word in person, via telephone and internet
Auditory - perceiving sounds in person and telephonically
Vision - obtaining impressions visually of the shape, size, distance, motion, color, or other characteristics of objects.
Exposure to the following environmental conditions:
Inside-protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. This position spends 100% of their time inside.
