Job SummaryWhat we're looking for: Motivated and coachable individuals to join the City of New Braunfels Library department. Under direct supervision, provides delivery of high-quality library services to the public. Staffs the various service and help areas. Assists in managing the day-to-day activities of the library, maintains the library's facilities and performs a variety of administrative and technical functions in support of New Braunfels Public Library operations.

Library Assistant I (Part time and Full time) - 14117/14126 - Staffs the service desk.
- Performs a variety of circulation duties - including answering calls, patron inquiries, check in/check out and shelving, card issuance, material location, collecting library fees and patron computer assistance (public computers, online catalogs, library databases and mobile devices).
- Assists patrons with library technology and software.
- Assists with outreach activities and programs.
- Participates in opening and closing duties.
- Assist with material preparation and repair as assigned. Evaluates and recommends library items for repair, rebinding, and/or replacement and assists with same tasks.
- Aids in the promotion of library programs/events.
- Answers reference questions or refers reference inquiries to the Librarian on Duty as appropriate.
- Assists in coordinating and implementing library programs/events
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Library Assistant II (Part time and Full time) - 14119/14118 - Performs job duties listed for Assistant I.
- Plans and implements library programs/events
- Assists with training and supervision of the public services volunteers.
- Assists with ILS reporting and material problem management.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Library Assistant III (Part time and Full time) - 14122/14121 - Performs duties listed for Assistant I and II.
- Compiles data and prepares/generates a variety of statistical library reports
- Assists with training of staff with library policies and procedures.
- Assists with development and maintenance of procedure documentation.
- Assists Management with customer issues and training of the Library Assistants.
- Able to perform LOD functions as needed.
Education, Experience, Licenses and CertificationsYour areas of knowledge and skills that matter most for this role: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Two (2) years of college and two (2) years public library/customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual(Spanish) highly preferred.
