Summary

Under the supervision of the Library Director, this position supports library operations by coordinating marketing and social media efforts, coordinating facilities reservations and providing general customer service to all University Park Public Library patrons through circulation desk support and other duties as assigned.
Duties
  • Develops and distributes the University Park Library monthly newsletters, including content development and database maintenance.
  • Coordinates library marketing and communications through the creation and distribution of flyers, posters, slides, and social media posts related to current and upcoming library events.
  • Provides assistance with the Digital Library Collection as requested.
  • Prepares damaged and discarded books for withdrawal and redistribution.
  • Assists customers with library policies and procedures.
  • Provides all circulation desk services to customers, including catalog and site directional advisement, catalog, materials check-in, check-out, materials location, hold placement, fines and lost media payment, copying and printing, voter registration, material shelving, facility reservation, computer and equipment assistance, and library card issuance.
  • Processes meeting room requests and coordinates use of meeting rooms. Assists customers with technology in meeting rooms, manages meeting room agreements, and coordinate with building management for climate control and elevator use.
  • Orders and maintains library and office supplies.
  • Prepares library revenue deposits for submission.
  • Assists with preparation of quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Coordinates library's voter registration compliance.
  • Provides assistance to staff and existing programs and may also develop new programming, with a focus on services for adults.
  • Prepares and maintains library exhibits and supporting graphics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with some college courses preferred.
  • Public service experience required.
  • Graphic design or social media marketing experience required.
  • Ability to operate computers and maintain an operating knowledge of the library's circulation system.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours.

Ability to effectively establish and maintain courteous working relationships with staff, volunteers, and customers. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language and follow instructions and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work in a stressful environment.

Schedule
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am to 6pm
Friday, Saturday 9am to 5pm
Some evenings, Sundays and Holidays required
