Description Vistra has an immediate opening for a Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst to support Department of Defense clients. The Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst will monitor defense legislation, pertinent hearings, markups, and floor actions. This position will also provide clients with clear messaging products to effectively communicate with stakeholders and draft responses to inquiries from Congress and from other stakeholder groups. Vistra is hiring for this position within 50 miles of The Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. The Legislative Affairs and Communications Analyst must be available to support periodic requirements onsite at The Mark Center or Pentagon as requested. Responsibilities include: Monitor and analyze defense specific legislation, policy, hearings, and regulations
Prepare client staff for congressional hearings
Draft responses to congressional and other stakeholder inquiries
Create messaging products to communicate office priorities and accomplishments to various stakeholder groups
Connect and synchronize several factors to develop cohesive, comprehensive information papers and responses to requests for information
Provide detailed interpretation and examine complex legislative issues to identify gaps and possible solutions and improvements
Work independently to track trends and issues, anticipate emerging needs or new requirements Requirements Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of directly related experience 2+ years of experience with legislative affairs Demonstrated understanding of the legislative and regulatory process
Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of clients and stakeholders
Experience working in a military environment or with military personnel preferred
Experience developing responses to requests for information preferred
Secret Clearance eligible US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.
