About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join a prestigious law firm in Washington, D.C. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong legal administrative experience, particularly in transactional law. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to a team of attorneys and contribute to the efficiency of legal operations.



Position Details

  • Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid - at least 2 days onsite)
  • Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Preparation & Editing - Draft, proofread, and format legal and court documents, including redlining and tables of authorities.
  • Administrative & Client Intake - Manage communications, prepare engagement letters, and coordinate with conflicts, finance, and general counsel teams.
  • Expense & Billing Support - Process expense reports, vendor bills, and check requests; assist attorneys with billing.
  • Attorney Calendar & Scheduling - Manage attorney schedules, set up meetings, and coordinate legal proceeding logistics.
  • Project Coordination & Process Improvement - Support internal teams and help attorneys maximize the use of technology tools.
  • File & Information Management - Maintain electronic and paper-based client files, ensuring compliance.
  • General Legal & Administrative Support - Provide firmwide legal assistance and backup support when needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting transactional attorneys.
  • Experience in infrastructure law is a plus but not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Word skills required).
  • Familiarity with iManage, Litera ChangePro, ChromeRiver.
  • Billing software experience preferred (Aderant).
  • Typing speed of 60+ WPM.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong time management, organization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple attorneys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and firm leadership.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
