Legal Secretary - Litigation
A dynamic boutique law firm is seeking an experienced litigation secretary to support their senior partner. Must have five years of civil litigation experience needed. This is a critical role supporting a busy managing partner. Direct Placement.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and File Legal Documents: Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and other court filings.
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents related to civil litigation cases.
- Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Maintain calendars, schedule appointments, answer phones for Partners and Associates.
- Prepare and follow up on matters relating to document preparation and timekeeping/billing.
- Assist with discovery, pleadings, court filings, and trial preparation in State and Federal Courts.
- Provide support by drafting correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents (i.e., pleadings, briefs, closing documents, discovery shells), submitting same for review, revising, redlining, comparing, proofreading, assembling, photocopying, and distributing final material as necessary.
- Assist in all aspects of litigation, including Federal, and State court filings and e-filings.
- Enter time for timekeepers, working closely with assigned timekeeper(s) to prepare billings for submission to the accounting department and forward monthly invoices to clients.
- Submit attorney expenses.
- Manage multiple attorney calendars by working with our litigation calendaring system. Docketing Department, as well as using Outlook calendars to schedule appointments and meetings.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research as needed to support ongoing cases.
Qualifications:
- Five years' experience litigation e-filing experience in state and federal courts.
- Ability to adapt and prioritize in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail when handling legal documents.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Degree (preferred)
