A respected East Bay law firm is seeking an experienced and highly organized Litigation Practice Assistant to support a team of attorneys handling complex litigation matters. Position Summary
The Litigation Practice Assistant will play a key role in supporting attorneys through all phases of complex litigation, including case management, filings, calendaring, and client coordination. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with large-scale litigation, a proactive mindset, and a strong understanding of court procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive litigation support to attorneys, including case preparation, document management, and trial assistance
- Manage complex calendaring of court deadlines, meetings, and case milestones
- Handle State and Federal court e-filing and ensure compliance with local rules and procedures
- Assist with the preparation and formatting of pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence
- Maintain detailed and organized case files, both electronically and in hard copy
- Liaise with clients, courts, vendors, and experts with professionalism and confidentiality
- Monitor deadlines, assist with docketing, and ensure timely follow-up on case-related tasks
- Collaborate with legal secretaries, paralegals, and other team members to support high-stakes matters
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a litigation assistant or similar legal support role, with a strong background in complex litigation
- Solid knowledge of California and Federal court rules and filing procedures
- Proficient in case management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and e-filing platforms
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple ongoing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A team-oriented attitude with a proactive and professional approach
- Ability to work independently while also supporting team goals
