Position Overview:
We are looking for a Legal Assistant to support the daily operations of our workers' compensation defense team. Legal Assistants are a critical part of the CML team; they support their assigned attorneys in effective file management. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, stays organized, and is comfortable with technology.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of workers' compensation defense litigation.
- Manage and organize case files, including (primarily) electronic and paper records.
- Coordinate and manage discovery, including the collection, review, and production of documents.
- Draft, review, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
- Maintain and update case calendars by tracking deadlines and scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, medical providers, and opposing counsel to gather information and provide updates.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as copying, scanning, and digital filing.
Qualifications:
- Experience in an administrative role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and communicative.
