Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our busy Real Estate Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial and/or residential real estate transactions, strong document management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with the preparation, review, and revision of real estate transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan documents, closing binders, and title and survey reviews
- Coordinate due diligence processes, including managing checklists, gathering documentation, and communicating with clients and third parties
- Draft correspondence, track critical dates, and maintain closing calendars
- Assist with preparing and filing documents for commercial real estate closings
- Liaise with title companies, surveyors, lenders, and municipal agencies to obtain necessary documentation
- Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic and physical case files
- Support billing processes and manage attorney time entries as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a real estate practice (law firm or in-house legal department)
- Strong understanding of real estate transactional processes and documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred, but not required
