Construction Legal Assistant
Join our client's well-respected Litigation practice group in Raleigh as a highly skilled Construction Legal Assistant. You'll play a vital role in supporting a team of attorneys handling complex secretarial, administrative, and substantive legal duties under the supervision and direction of the attorneys.
Your Impact:
- Optimize Attorney Workflow: Leverage technology to streamline processes and maximize attorney productivity.
- Master Document Management: Prepare, format, and finalize a wide array of legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, contracts (AIA and custom), and court filings.
- Support Critical Legal Processes: Prepare document shells, exhibits, and notebooks for motions, discovery, and trial.
- Expert E-Filing: Manage electronic filing in state and federal courts with precision.
- Comprehensive Administrative Support: Handle conflict checks, matter management (openings/closings), engagement letters, expense reports, time entry, and travel arrangements.
- Client & Business Development Assistance: Maintain client contact lists and support business development initiatives.
- Organized File Management: Maintain paper and electronic files, including pleading indexes.
- Proactive Calendar & Communication Management: Manage attorney calendars, emails, and coordinate meetings and depositions.
What You'll Need:
- 5+ years of legal secretarial experience, ideally within a law firm setting, including e-filing proficiency.
- 2+ years of experience supporting construction law cases strongly preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe PDF.
- Experience with document management systems (e.g., Worksite/Filesite) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work well under pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in operating standard office equipment.
- High school diploma/GED required; Associate's degree or related certification preferred.
