We are seeking a Legal Assistant for our New York City office. Please note this is not a hybrid/remote role.
Position
The Legal Assistant is a key contributor to the success of our initiatives. This individual will acquire an understanding of the mechanics of commercial litigation, including pleadings and discovery tools:
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for providing high level administrative support e.g. time entries, expense reports and travel arrangements;
- Prepares for trial (organizes trial exhibits, files and all other supporting materials and makes arrangements for transporting and setting up case materials at court);
- Hold responsibility for front to end management of binders and other documents;
- Prepare pleadings and supporting materials for filing such as citing checking, Table of Authority and Table of Contents;
- Assist with preparation for interviews, depositions, hearings, trials, and client meetings;
- Arrange for court reporters, interpreters, conference rooms, etc.;
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
- Assist partners, associates and other legal assistants as needed.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience as a Legal Assistant;
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality;
- Excellent organizational and written communication skills, including high level of attention to detail and active listening skills;
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects and competing priorities;
- Proficiency in MS Office including Mircosoft 365, NetDocs and other E discovery tools (We offer training for our prospective employees);
- Notary Public preferred.
Compensation
- The anticipated salary for this position is expected to be 70K-80K with typical heavy overtime. The base salary offered will be determined based on experience, skills and other job-related factors.
