Dani from Avocet Legal Careers is looking for an experienced Legal Assistant for a thriving law firm in the South Hams area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant to join a well-established Dispute Resolution department.

About the Role

As a Legal Assistant within the Dispute Resolution department, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to a team of experienced solicitors handling a variety of contentious matters. Based in their Kingsbridge office, this is a full-time, in-person position requiring strong organisational skills and attention to detail. You will be an essential part of the team, ensuring the smooth running of cases from initial client contact through to resolution. Legal Assistant Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Dispute Resolution team
  • Manage client communications professionally and efficiently
  • Prepare and process legal documentation with meticulous attention to detail
  • Utilise case management systems to maintain accurate file records
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, and court deadlines
  • Assist with file opening and closing procedures
  • Draft routine correspondence under supervision
  • Maintain organised filing systems, both electronic and physical
  • Support fee earners with general administrative tasks
  • Help maintain effective office procedures and systems

Legal Assistant Requirements

  • Previous experience providing administrative support within a law firm
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality
  • Self-motivated with proven initiative
  • Team-oriented approach with collaborative working style
  • Professional demeanour and client service focus
  • IT proficiency including Microsoft Office applications
