Okoye Law is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our growing legal team. This is an in-person legal assistant position. Experience in criminal law is preferred. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Typical duties and responsibilities include:
• Screen incoming calls to the firm
• Schedule appointments between potential clients/clients and attorneys
• Responsible for calendaring court dates and appearances
• Intake with potential clients
• Prepare agreements, correspondence, and pleadings
• Provide support to attorneys and paralegals
• Research and fact-checking
• Manage and download discovery
• Mail handling and posting
• Case management
• Accountability
• Quick learner and capable of handling job duties without handholding Responsibilities:
• Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly
• Ensure client billing is processed properly using daily time records with assistance from the accounting department
• Make travel arrangements, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
• Take care of administrative tasks and office correspondence by answering phone calls and emails, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and informing the team of upcoming deadlines
• Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested Qualifications:
