POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Biology and the Environmental Science program at Alma College invite applications for a Lecturer of Biology. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position beginning Fall 2025. This is a 1-year faculty position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and college need. The standard teaching load for this position is six units throughout the academic year and may include teaching in different modalities.
The department's desire is for an experienced faculty colleague with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Responsibilities include teaching a microbiology lecture and lab course as well as teaching and lab coordination for introductory biology and environmental science lab courses. In addition, this position provides opportunities to conduct research in the lab or field and to teach advanced courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations is preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.D. in biology, environmental science, or a related discipline is required prior to appointment date. The successful candidate will have undergraduate-level teaching experience as the instructor of record and will demonstrate commitment to quality undergraduate education and a passion for hands-on, experiential learning.
