This position contributes to Starbucks success by managing and executing various tasks related to: (1) Starbucks Leave of Absence and (2) workplace accommodation. Provides consultation on the interpretation of policies and procedures to partners and other internal and external stakeholders and participates in specialized projects to enhance the partner experience and to improve fiscal outcomes along with improved legislative compliance.
As a LOA Specialist, you will:
Leave of Absence
- Administers Starbucks leave of absence plan operations, including eligibility and application processes, disability claims in partnership with third-party vendor, with a focus on disability-related cases.
- Identifies, implements, and carries out process improvements and projects to enhance partner experience and business efficiency. Promptly resolves issues and maintains up to date policy and government compliance.
- Consults with direct manager, partner, partner resources and third-party vendor to guide through disability/loa processes and return to work planning.
- Diagnose stakeholders' needs through critical thinking and active listening skills, differentiating between subjective and objective findings.
- Advises managers, partner resources managers and key stakeholders to resolve a variety of critical and complex LOA, STD & LTD scenarios.
- With the guidance from Benefits & LTD Manager, leads thorough understanding of systems and technology that support the administration of Canada LOA, disability and participates in their maintenance and development.
- Partnering with Benefits & LOA Manager, provides visibility to leadership in relation to business trends and Canadian legislation that have been identified.
- Represents department as subject matter expert and provides information about LOA and disability. Represents Starbucks by educating partners and vendors on Starbucks Mission and Core Values.
Workplace Accommodation
- Reviews accommodation requests and documentation to ensure compliance with established company guidelines and processes and in accordance with provincial / federal legislation and company policies.
- Provides consultation to the business regarding functional abilities and the appropriateness of offered accommodations.
- Communicates with third party vendor, to gain clarity on functional abilities and required accommodations.
- Provides vacation coverage for Benefits & LOA team members as well as other PR groups.
