Primary Responsibilities: - Oversee NASA server architecture and configuration.
- Manage the day-to-day operations and ongoing support for Servers and Systems, including event, fault, and performance management.
- Develop monitoring solutions for anomalies and alarms.
- Assess current architecture; design a robust, scalable, secure, and highly available Linux environment.
- Identify gaps in the Linux environment and apply analytical skills to provide effective solutions.
- Collaborate closely with systems administrators, database and application administrators/programmers, network engineers/analysts, and external vendors to engineer solutions and resolve issues.
- Serve as a lead consultant and trainer for the server architecture environment.
- Guide systems administrators and network engineers in configuring server hardware and architectures to meet application and service needs.
- Lead research and development efforts to identify new solutions and communicate progress with Senior and Program Management.
- Work collaboratively with vendors and teams within the organization to troubleshoot problems or perform root cause analysis.
- Provide formal recommendations on optimization and capacity planning for systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and utilities using BASH/Python and other programming languages as necessary.
- Create and maintain documentation related to the design, installation, administration, and upkeep of multiple Linux systems in a distributed computing context.
- Ensure stability and maintenance of a 24/7 mission-critical production environment.
- Prepare weekly reports on significant events.
- Draft test plans and conduct product evaluations in a lab environment.
- Be available for after-hours critical incident management support as necessary.
- Establish and maintain a repeatable, documented patch deployment methodology for implementation by system administrators.
- Diagnose complex performance issues and facilitate the recovery of failed systems per customer Service Level Agreements.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience can substitute for degree.
- Experience in UNIX server administration, specifically the RedHat LINUX platform.
Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with IP addressing, subnetting, and routing.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, IPv6, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Experience with server architectures, storage architectures, virtualization, monitoring tools, backup/restore, performance tuning, capacity planning, and server management.
- Working knowledge of VMWare hypervisors and architecture.
- Basic knowledge of database management, security, and data access technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interactions with clients, colleagues, and external entities.
- Proven ability to lead projects while managing routine tasks with minimal supervision.

Pay Range: Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
