We are looking for a skilled Lead Systems Administrator to join our dynamic Multi-domain Solutions Division (MDS) within the Leidos NSS. In this role, you will play a crucial part in a new cyber security program that supports vital government systems. This position involves overseeing the development, integration, delivery, and maintenance of IT managed security services, particularly monitoring cybersecurity threats and enhancing the security posture of enterprise systems. This position is in anticipation of a future contract award.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and enhance our IT infrastructure for optimal reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of essential systems and applications while proactively resolving technical challenges.
  • Administer both on-premises and cloud environments, automating processes, and implementing best practices for improved system performance.
  • Collaborate with different teams to ensure flawless IT operations and provide mentorship to junior administrators to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure the installation, configuration, administration, support, and upkeep of systems and related hardware.
  • Implement best practices for system management, functional specifications, configuration of virtual and physical systems, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Tune system performance by updating and supporting systems, managing storage, applying critical patches, and troubleshooting identified issues.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of solutions impacting project goals and business outcomes.
  • Administer and optimize Windows, Linux, and cloud-based systems for maximum performance and availability.
  • Monitor and manage system configurations, updates, and patch management to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee system health and performance metrics, taking proactive actions to avert outages.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Manage virtualization platforms to maximize resource efficiency.
  • Develop and implement efficient backup, storage, and disaster recovery operations to ensure data integrity.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible for automated provisioning and management.
  • Apply security best practices to harden system defenses and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis to implement preventive strategies.
  • Develop incident response plans for quick recovery from downtimes.
  • Employ cloud infrastructure management skills across various platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid settings.
  • Enable secure networking solutions such as VPNs and manage cloud access controls.
  • Work collaboratively with development, security, and operations teams to facilitate seamless systems integration.
  • Mentor junior system administrators and IT personnel, providing valuable technical guidance.
  • Engage in project planning, system upgrades, and migrations with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Continuously seek to enhance operational efficiency through automation and process improvement.
Requirements:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance required. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree with 12 to 15 years of relevant experience, or a Master's with 10 to 13 years of relevant experience. Exceptional experience may substitute for education.
  • Strong understanding of DoD IT security protocols and regulations.
  • Proficient in administering and securing Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge in managing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, and firewall management.
  • Hands-on experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management systems.
  • Expertise in scripting languages for automating processes.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of security monitoring tools such as SIEM and IDS/IPS.
