The Role:


This onsite role in Leawood, KS blends technical leadership with strategic execution. We need a hands-on software engineer who can code, architect, and lead. Youll be responsible for enhancing Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity, optimizing app-to-device interactions, and laying the groundwork for a more scalable, stable, and seamless experience. With the autonomy to architect and develop innovative solutions, youll work closely with product managers, mobile developers, and hardware engineers to drive impactful improvements. Beyond technical execution, youll set the engineering direction, establish best practices, and cultivate a culture of accountability, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, future-ready software solutions.

What Youll Do:



  • Lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Lead the architecture and development of our connected device ecosystem, ensuring reliability, scalability, and seamless user experience.

  • Design and build robust software solutions that improve communication between our mobile app and COMPANY products (IoT/connected devices).

  • Own and optimize connectivity between hardware and software, improving stability and reducing drop-offs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, mobile developers, and product managers, to define and execute key initiatives.

  • Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions when needed, balancing build vs. buy decisions for optimal performance.

  • Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot critical issues, and mentor junior engineers.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, ensuring our technology stack remains modern and competitive.

  • Implement and lead automated QA testing technologies.

  • Lead full-stack development initiatives, including back-end data analytics, headless website architecture, and headless Shopify integration.


What Were Looking For:



  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on connected devices, IoT, or embedded systems.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Swift, or C , or similar.

  • Experience developing firmware and software for IoT devices.

  • Deep understanding of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other networking protocols used in connected devices.

  • Experience leading engineering projects or teams, with the ability to make architectural decisions and guide execution.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and edge computing solutions.

  • Proven track record of solving connectivity challenges, debugging complex issues, and improving system reliability.

  • Experience with mobile app development and cloud services.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
