As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives. As a part of a new feature team, this is an opportunity to do hands-on coding, as well as collaborate on and influence project scoping and execution.
Job Responsibilities: - Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond conventional approaches to build solutions or resolve technical problems.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues to enhance the overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented assessments of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for integration within existing systems and information architecture.
- Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new and cutting-edge technologies.
- Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills: - Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java Spring.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
- Practical experience with cloud-native applications (12-factor apps).
- Experience working in a large enterprise environment.
- Strong experience in developing and maintaining microservices-based architectures.
- Proven ability to tackle day-to-day technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills: - Familiarity with observability tools and standards, such as Splunk, Datadog, and/or Grafana.
- Experience with cloud modernization efforts and journeys.
- Experience in mentoring junior-level engineers and a continued interest in doing so.
- Demonstrated ability to guide project scoping and execution.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
