The Lead Security Engineer will play an instrumental role in utilizing our existing security technologies and improving related processes and procedures.

The Lead Security Engineer will take charge of discovering, evaluating, and implementing security technologies to safeguard all sensitive information. This role requires providing technical expertise across applications, operating systems, vendor risk management, incident response, and security training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive the implementation of UniFirst's security control environment.
  • Offer consultation on the configuration of technologies managed by IT Infrastructure.
  • Maintain and enhance the security incident response plan.
  • Assist in resolving security incidents and identify root causes.
  • Establish baselines and monitor trends and anomalies.
  • Serve as a primary resource for escalated security incidents and responses.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimize infrastructure/application/database protection and provide input for secure software development.
  • Conduct examinations of system logs, applications, and security events on networks.
  • Support the IT Operations Control Center team.
  • Provide security support for application and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform Security Risk Assessments on new and existing technologies.
  • Be an active contributor to the vulnerability management program.
  • Play a critical role in improving the overall security posture of the company.
Qualifications:

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • CISSP certification(s) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Security Engineer.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as CIS18, NIST, and PCI.
  • Experience with Incident Management programs.
  • Skills in intrusion detection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of technologies including SPLUNK, Nessus, Email gateway, O365, and Palo Alto.
  • Experience monitoring, investigating, and resolving IT security issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication.
  • Experience in developing and managing user awareness training programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
