Title: Lead Python Full Stack Developer



The company is a leading entity in both Physical and Financial Global Commodity markets, with primary trading centers located in Houston, London, Geneva, Singapore, Beijing, and Shanghai. Their trading activities encompass a wide range of major commodity asset classes, including crude and refined oil products, power & gas, LNG, coal, emissions, freight, metals, and agricultural products.


They maintain a globally diverse technology team with major hubs in London, Geneva, Houston, and Singapore, and collaborate closely with strategic co-development centers around the world. All teams adhere to an Agile delivery model, working in close partnership with business stakeholders to provide multi-asset-class commodity system


The role:


Join one of the world's largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies in this exceptional opportunity. They are seeking a hands-on Software Developer ideally with expertise in the North American Power & Gas Commodity markets to develop full stack applications to support Front Office Trading across various commodities.


Key responsibilities:


  • Lead the design, development, deployment, and operations of full stack applications on AWS.
  • Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle to enhance trading platforms and address business needs, including gathering requirements, prioritizing tasks, planning, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, conduct code reviews, and troubleshoot issues across the software stack.
  • Continuously improve development processes and methodologies for increased productivity and efficiency.
  • Work closely with global development teams to address organizational technology needs.

Skill and Experience:


  • 8+ years of experience in developing enterprise applications
  • Strong Python development experience is critical
  • Extensive experience with AWS
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Good understanding of DevOps best practices
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Trading or Commodities is bonus
  • Proficient with modern data warehouse platforms like Snowflake and Databricks is a bonus
  • Linux/Unix skills are beneficial.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

This role is based in Houston and will need someone onsite 4 days per week).


They are open to considering people on a Contract, Contract to Hire or Permanent basis.
