POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Coordinator Information Systems, supports the technical functions of the IS department including system requirements analysis, SQL programming application maintenance, system operations, end user support and all other duties to maintain Rockwood Information Systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with district staff and service providers.
  2. Consults with system users to identify needs; analyzes business processes to define application requirements and technical specifications.
  3. Researches and recommends effective system solutions.
  4. Performs complex development and maintenance programming tasks.
  5. Develops project plans and manages project work.
  6. Develops and maintains system documentation.
  7. Performs vendor software upgrades.
  8. Creates data reports and automates file transfers and data conversions.
  9. Designs, writes or modifies computer programs as needed
  10. Provides end user system support.
  11. Interfaces with software and hardware vendor personnel to resolve technical issues.
  12. Analysis, evaluation and implementation of student information, HR/Finance, and similar systems.
  13. Develop solutions to user-related problems and applications systems.
  14. Assist in providing direction to programmer/analyst staff.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILIITIES:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of system users and with external service providers.
  • Ability to perform system analysis, development and maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of operating and administering a computer system.
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of system users across varied functional areas.
  • Ability to organize and manage complex systems projects.
  • Ability to travel to district sites.
  • Ability to manage large scale projects districtwide.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Five or more years programming experience.
  3. Five (5) or more years' experience in Information Technology (K-12 experience preferred)
  4. Familiarity with one or more high-level programming languages.
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database management system.
  6. Experience using SQL Server Management Studio, Business Intelligence Development Studio, Visual Studio, SQL Server Integration Services programming tools, SSRS, and SQL Stored Procedures.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Strong customer service orientation.
  9. Experience with PowerSchool BusinessPLUS or equivalent HR/Finance system.

  • Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Within assigned building(s)
  • Outside of school buildings, including in inclement weather.
  • Must be flexible, able to report to various school sites and when necessary, various shifts or days of the week, including weekends.
