Position Summary Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is looking for a Lead Paramedic Instructor. This position is responsible for the delivery and the administrative and quality oversight of traditional day paramedic course and night paramedic course. Responsibilities will include teaching Paramedic and other EMS courses; developing course syllabi and instructional materials; maintaining instructional records; recruiting, advising and retaining students. Additional responsibilities include graduate surveys, employer surveys, resource assessment, simulation, equipment management, and annual reports.
Candidate must meet NC Office of EMS and CoAEMSP standards to be designated as a Lead Instructor.
Required Education/Experience - Associate Degree in EMS or related field
- NC credentialed Level I EMS Instructor
- NC Paramedic certification
- At least 3 years field experience as a Paramedic
- Minimum of 1 year teaching experience
- Knowledge of NCOEMS and CoAEMSP requirements and processes
Candidate must meet NC Office of EMS and CoAEMSP standards to be designated as a Lead Instructor.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills - NC and National Registry Paramedic certification
- Bachelor's Degree in EMS or related field
- NC Credentialed Level II EMS Instructor
- Instructor certifications in: PALS, ACLS, BCLS, PHTLS
- 5 years of teaching experience
- Experience in online teaching
- Experience with clinical tracking tools
- Candidate must meet NC Office of EMS and CoAEMSP standards to be designated as a Lead Instructor.

Department Public Services Tech - Emergency Medical Services
Work Hours Day paramedic class meets 8 am - 5 pm ( 2 days weekly)
Night paramedic class meets 6pm - 10 pm (2 nights weekly)
Some weekend work required.

Duty and Responsibility 1. Update, communicate and follow course syllabus content.
Duty and Responsibility 2. Participate in professional development opportunities (selected or assigned) in order to enhance and apply knowledge/skills within the discipline, to effectively utilize required course technology and College applications, and to maintain licensures (as applicable).
Duty and Responsibility 3. Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College's learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
Duty and Responsibility 4. Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
Duty and Responsibility 5. Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet administrative requirements. When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
Duty and Responsibility 6. Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
Duty and Responsibility 7. Work collaboratively with the College's support services to identify and address the students' academic support needs.
Duty and Responsibility 8. Assist the EMS Director as needed with student advising, registration and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.
Duty and Responsibility 9. Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.
Duty and Responsibility 12. Participate in College meetings, events, and committees as appropriate or required
Duty and Responsibility 13. Teach other EMS related classes as assigned.
Duty and Responsibility 14. Keep the Program Director informed of all students' academic progress, affective and cognitive behavior, skill mastery and overall performance in the program at all times by maintaining accurate and up to date records of grades, attendance and skills performed in FISDAP, web attendance and Blackboard.
Duty and Responsibility 16. Collaborate with the Clinical Coordinator/scheduler to schedule clinical rotations and to schedule additional classroom Instructors when needed.
Duty and Responsibility 17. Serve as a program faculty member on the CoAEMSP advisory Committee.
Duty and Responsibility 18. Remain current and knowledgeable of emerging trends and topics in EMS.
Duty and Responsibility 19. Be knowledgeable of CoAEMSP requirements and work with other staff to ensure compliance in all areas.
Duty and Responsibility 20. Provide the students an immersive, creative, current, relevant, and well rounded Paramedic education.
