Provides professional nursing care and assists with the coordination of care for patients referred in and out of the Emergency Room. Applies the nursing process to patients of all ages requiring stabilization and/or resuscitation for a variety of illnesses and injuries. Consults with attending physicians and other staff members to determine and evaluate the kind of health and physical care needed. Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician. Participate in the development, updating, and evaluation of standards of care and quality improvement monitoring. participates and develops Quality Improvements projects for the department and participates in hospital quality improvement program. Maintains patient flow and efficiently in order to ensure safety, patient confidentiality, and to expedite onset of treatment. Assigns, directs, and delegates staff according to their capabilities to meet patient needs. Serves as a resource person for staff floating to the ED. Serves as team leader and formulates work schedules. Ensures patient education occurs during the shift. Ensure correct narcotic count at the end of the shift, reviews and revises nursing care plans. Work in coordination with other lead nurses from other units. Serves as a resource person, provides guidance and leadership to staff. Reviews patient's chart and ensures the staff makes legible, accurate and complete nursing entries in the patient chart for all nursing care given. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing.
