Summary This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services, Branch of Emergency Medicine at the Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC), Gallup, NM. This position coordinates all patient care activities and a liaison for ER; attending to ensure that care is delivered in an efficient and safe manner. Provides professional nursing care and assists with the coordination of care for patients referred in and out of the Emergency Room. Applies the nursing process to patients of all ages requiring stabilization and/or resuscitation for a variety of illnesses and injuries. Consults with attending physicians and other staff members to determine and evaluate the kind of health and physical care needed. Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician. Participate in the development, updating, and evaluation of standards of care and quality improvement monitoring. participates and develops Quality Improvements projects for the department and participates in hospital quality improvement program. Maintains patient flow and efficiently in order to ensure safety, patient confidentiality, and to expedite onset of treatment. Assigns, directs, and delegates staff according to their capabilities to meet patient needs. Serves as a resource person for staff floating to the ED. Serves as team leader and formulates work schedules. Ensures patient education occurs during the shift. Ensure correct narcotic count at the end of the shift, reviews and revises nursing care plans. Work in coordination with other lead nurses from other units. Serves as a resource person, provides guidance and leadership to staff. Reviews patient's chart and ensures the staff makes legible, accurate and complete nursing entries in the patient chart for all nursing care given. Assures nursing compliance to administrative policies and procedures, regulations, standards of care, directives and other regulating agencies. Participate in the preceptorship program as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
