Executive Summary: HRUCKUS seeks a Lead Network Engineer for a role supporting the Department of Navy in Annapolis Junction, MD. Position Description: Join our client's dynamic team in supporting a global communications network that delivers office automation solutions, document and information management tools, and collaboration, voice, and video capabilities. This secure, flexible, distributed architecture underpins a classified DoD IT system. You will contribute to designing and upgrading the network infrastructure across a large-scale enterprise IT program. Position Job Duties: Review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies
Recommend best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, network segmentation protocols, etc., to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements
Design telecommunications circuit specifications
Identify the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services
Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code
Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts
Designs and plans network communications systems
Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
Conducts testing of network design
Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration options are set
Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network
Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations
Maintains technical expertise in all network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing areas, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance the network's capabilities Position Qualifications: TS/SCI level clearance is required
Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 years with an MS/MA, or 3 years with a PhD; alternatively, 4 years of additional work experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree
Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, unified communications equipment
Proven experience in VMware environments
Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol, Fiber Channel networks, and routing protocols
Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors
Certifications: Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III
Professional Certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL is desired
