Position Details
The Lead Mobile Equipment Mechanic at Stella-Jones in Tacoma is a hands-on, senior-level role that directs and coordinates activities of team members and outside vendors responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on various types of Powered Industrial Equipment. The Lead Mechanic also ensures employees are working in a safe and efficient manner to minimize downtime and by keeping the Mobile Fleet operational.

Schedule: Monday-Friday days. This is a 24/7 facility, so some overtime and weekend work is required as needed.
Starting pay: $36.13 per hour
Increase to: $37.13 per hour after 90 days upon demonstrating proficiency in the role
Key Duties:
- Manages Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) maintenance work requests, determines priority and assigns appropriate resource
- Ensures team members comply with all safety, environmental and manufacturing practices
- Communicates to production and quality assurance equipment break downs and estimated time need to complete repairs
- Confers with venders, management and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measure to improve operation and conditions of machine and equipment
- Documents and reports maintenance work performed and advises of future requirements in a timely manner
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
- Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment and machinery
- Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
- Performs scheduled maintenance of fleet vehicles, i.e., brake repairs, oil changes, fluid changes, lubrications, and safety inspections as assigned
- Performs external engine repairs. Internal engine knowledge preferred
- Working knowledge in repair of vehicle drivelines, clutch replacements, electrical systems, and a/c systems
- Must have knowledge of trailer lighting, air systems, brakes, and tires
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe shop environment
- Participates and contributes to company safety program
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Senior-level experience (typically 5 or more years) as a mechanic, including significant experience working on mobile equipment (such as forklifts, loaders, trucks, etc) required
- Experience with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) systems highly preferred
- Mechanic team management/leadership, training, and/or mentoring experience a plus
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Able to pass a background check and drug test
