Lead Mechanic - Hartley, IA

AgState is currently seeking a Lead Mechanic who will be responsible for leading the maintenance, documentation, scheduling, and operation of all Agronomy equipment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, operating equipment, using hand tools, and performing equipment repairs.

You Will:

Lead Shop Maintenance and Equipment Operations

  • Lead the maintenance efforts in the shop
  • Build a scheduling program for rolling stock
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and establish daily schedules
  • Properly track and manage invoices and submit for payment
  • Perform outside maintenance and basic repairs on application equipment
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks and travel for equipment repairs when needed

Support Agronomy Operations

  • Operate agronomy equipment: payloader, Terrogator, sprayer, semi-tenders
  • Operate agronomy facilities: liquid, dry, and seed treatment plants
  • Assist with dispatching and logistical coordination
  • Handle ag chemicals and fertilizer safely and efficiently
  • Understand chemical rates, uses, and restrictions
  • Deliver seed and other products as required
  • Assist in servicing and repairing equipment

Promote Safety, Teamwork & Customer Service

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner at all times
  • Provide outstanding customer service to producers and team members
  • Maintain clean and safe facilities, including housekeeping and regular maintenance
  • Demonstrate a strong team-oriented work ethic
  • Support other locations as needed

You Have:

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsement (preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Commercial Applicator and Handler License (preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to wear a respirator where required
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
